A finish and new start :)

I finally have a finish !! The little doll quilt that I have been working on the better part of the month is all finished :) I have really enjoyed the journey of making this wee little quilt ! It is 100% hand stitched and quilted. This was my very first time using cotton batting and I must say that I am now a convert. The drape on this little quilt is just amazing and it was so wonderful to hand quilt with the cotton batting.

I used a Kansas Troubles fabric for the border and backing on this little quilt. I had only bought a 1/2 yard of it so I am about out of it. I need to buzz by the quilt store on Friday when I get paid as I just love this fabric and I want a couple of yards of it. My luck though they will be out lol !! It's been a bit since I bought this fabric so I am really crossing my fingers that they have more of it left.

I tried to get a picture of the hand quilting as I am pretty proud of it. My stitches were getting straighter with every little block that I quilted. Still not perfect but I am super happy with it :)

Now I am moving on to the needlebook, I started the embroidery on the little owl for the front cover. I also picked up some buttons that I will see if I can incorporate into the needlebook as they go so well with the fabrics. Of course I forgot to snap a picture but I'll get one over the next couple of days .

Needle Book

Today I treated myself to a new rotary cutter and mat. I am super excited as I have been wanting these for quite a while ! I also picked up the fabric and threads for the needle book.

Not the best picture but I will be doing this as a little embroidery for the front of the needle book. Hope it comes out as cute as I see it in my head lol !!

Busy, Busy !!

I am still plugging along on Brave Hearts, I just love how the flag turned out !!I hope to get the house and some more words finished off by the middle of this upcoming week :)

I acquired a new to me sewing machine a few days ago. To test it out I made this little 9 inch block out of some plain white fabric and a recycled man's shirt. I may end up making a few more blocks and turning it into a twin sized quilt for my youngest son.
I have quite a few upcoming exchanges. First I have a cupcake themed exchange on the Needle Felting Exchange group on Facebook. I have that exchange all finished and ready to mail out as soon as partners are assigned. I also have a needlebook and a pincushion exchange approaching on the Quilt Cave group on Facebook. Looks like I am going to be busy, busy over the next week or so :)

Swap received and hand quilting

I just received the most adorable little needle felted polar bear from my swap partner for the Dec '16 swap. The theme was black/white and she could not of made me any happier !! I love bears and this one is sooo perfect !!

I am making some nice progress on hand quilting my little quilt for the doll quilt swap ! Only 4 more blocks to be quilted and then I can get onto getting the binding put on :)

Quilt Top Finish & Bunnies

I finally got my little quilt top all finished !!!! I just love how it turned out, the wool pennies add so much to it :) Now on to the hand quilting. I am not the best hand quilter but I find the process so relaxing and hopefully I will get better with time. It has been raining like crazy here so these pictures are not the best, when the rain lets up I will snap some pictures in better light.

I got two of my new Harlequin rabbits a few days ago. The top photo is of Oreo my Black Magpie Buck. He is soooo sweet, an in your pocket kind of rabbit. The kids just love him and he puts up with all of their attention with such good grace :)

And this is Cocoa my Chocolate Magpie doe. She is not quite as sweet as Oreo but she will get there :) I bred her to Oreo this morning so we should be having babies in a month's time. I am super excited. It feels like it has been forever since I have had kits in the nestbox !! Oreo had 3 good fall off's this morning so I really hope that she took. Her past owner said it had been a good while since her last litter. I am crossing my finger's for some show quality kits

Brave Hearts and Quilt Update

Well I am making a bit of progress on the little four patch, today I will spend the day cutting out the pennies for it and stitching on the borders. I have the prettiest Kansas Trouble fabric that I will be using for the borders.

I have also made a wee bit of progress on Brave Hearts by Little House Needleworks. The Cresent Colours thread is a joy to stitch with and the colours are pooling wonderfully ! After I get the doll quilt stitched up I will have much more time to stitch on this. I am really looking forward to seeing more of this design appear :)

A Bunny Post :)

This is Titan, Baby Red's new meat buck. Yesterday we drove about an hour away to pick up a cage for our Harlequin's that are coming on Tuesday. I did not go down with the intention of buying a rabbit but Baby Red has other idea's when she saw this little guy. He is 1/2 New Zealand broken blue and 1/2 American Blue. He will be the herd sire to our meat mutt line and Baby Red's personal pet.

I was in a needle felting swap over on the facebook group Needle Felting Exchange, my partner received her swap yesterday so I can show what I made. I had a blast felting up this little penguin, he was so much fun to make !!

This is one of the does that I am getting for my Harlequin project, she is a brown Magpie . Baby Red is already calling her Cider. I will be breeding her to the black Magpie buck pictured below. Next weekend I am picking up 2 more does. One is a blue Magpie and also her mother who is a black Magpie.

I currently have 2 projects on the go, Little House Needleworks "Brave Hearts". I am stitching it for my eldest son who is in the Navy. I will snap a better picture of it when I get a bit further along.

The second project is a wee little doll quilt that I am making for a swap for a group I am in on Facebook. It is being 100% stitched by hand as I do not yet own a sewing machine. The plain blocks will have wool pennies stitched on to them. It is due to be mailed out the 28th of this month so I really need to get a move on it !!
