More hexagons and a pincushion

I sat and stitched up these pretty little hexi's yesterday. They will go out in today's mail to be swapped around the world :) I can't believe how much fun I am having trading these little guys !! I figure fairly soon I will have enough to start putting my table runner together !!

I love this one that I received from Long Beach, such a beautiful red !! It will fit perfectly in my fall themed runner !!

And I received these pretty petals all the way from New Jersey , love the batik . I am gonna have to do a project with Batik hexi's and a black path, I think that would be a pretty combination !

My swap partner received her pincushion for the swap that I hosted. I just love how it turned out and I am over the moon that my swap partner was pleased with it :)

Swaps in, Swaps out :)

I received the beautiful hexagon's from Ellen the other day . The will looks just beautiful in my table runner. I just love how it will have flowers in it from all over the world !! I also made a couple to go on their journey across the pond . One will be going to England and the other to Germany.

I am so excited I ordered a Fiskar's Hexagon Punch from Amazon last week and it should be arriving at some point this week ! It will make doing these hexagons so much quicker as I think it takes me longer to trace and cut out the hexagon than to sew them together !!

I received this adorable pincushion and thread catcher from Tina Friday !! It's great for when I am sitting on the lounge sewing as I don't have to get up near as often to go to the trash can to throw away the scraps of fabric and thread !!

And I finished off the mug rug for Angie. It still needs a bit of a press to get the join in the binding to lay flat. I need to figure out a new method of binding as I never like how the join area looks. Some people can get theirs to lay perfectly flat but mine always seems to have a lump in it :/

The baby bunnies are doing wonderful. Their little eye's are just starting to open. Another week and they will start to explore outside of the nestbox. That will bring out my camera for lots of adorable pictures :)

Growing So Fast !!

Diva's kits are growing so fast !! I am just in love with the little Tri coloured kit, I find it so amusing the the colour is mainly on it's bum. And the snip on the little black kit just makes me giggle :) I am having a blast watching these babies grow, it won't be to much longer before their eye's open and they start exploring outside of the nestbox !!

I have started on one of my Spring Mug Rugs. I have 2 to make as there was an uneven amount of participants in this swap. The little flower is paper pieced and I enjoyed the process so much that I will be giving paper piecing another go in my second mug rug. I found this pattern on pinterest.

I recieved these two beautiful hexagons from Karen in Australia !! They will look perfect in my Fall table runner that I am planning on making.

I received these beautiful pincushions from Debra !! The little one will travel back and forth to work with me and the larger one will live beside my sewing machine :)

My partner for the cupcake wars needlefelting swap received her package :) I also included a couple of packages of Alpaca for her to play around with.

Baby Bunnies , Hexagon's, Mug Rug

Meet 2 of the new additions to the Bunny Barn. Above is Hulk a blue/fawn harlequin VM mini rex. Below is Diva a black otter mini rex and brand new mamma :)

They day after I bought the pair of them she gave birth to these 3 beautiful kits :) They are 3 days old in this picture. I am really looking forward to watching them grow !!

I have completed a few hexagons to swap. I am trying to get enough from all over the world to make a pretty table runner. I saw one on pinterest that really inspired me.

This is my little Spring themed mug rug for a swap that I am hosting on facebook. I will work on the buttonhole stitching tonight at work. I also need to make some progress on the crazy quilt pincushion as it is due to be mailed out in a few days !!

Pincushion & Bunnies

One of my partners for the pincushion swap requested pink/black as her colour choice. I had these scrap laying around from the needlebook project and also from the pink/black mini quilt project. I made 8 - 1 1/2 inch hexagon to make this pincushion and I used the tutorial that can be found here : http://lifeunderquilts.blogspot.com/2014/07/12-hexies-blog-hop.html

I am really happy with how it turned out. The buttons pick up the purple and green that are in the owl fabric :)

Now I have to get to work on the crazy quilt pincushion and I also have several hexagon flowers to make for a swap that I am in on Facebook. However this morning I have to drive up to Leesville to pick up a breeding pair of Mini Rex. I have been unable to find any standard Rex for the Magpie Rex project that I am wanting to work on. But I did find a Blue Harlequin buck and a Chocolate doe in Mini Rex so I will work with what I can find :)Also Cocoa is due in just a few days, crossing my finger's that she took as we lost Oreo last week. Something got into the bunny barn and freaked out the rabbits and Oreo ended up somehow breaking his back so sadly I had to put him down.

Finished one, started another

Yay !! The little pink doll quilt is all finished and will go out to it's new owner on Friday :) Even though I don't care for the colourway I am really proud of the work that I did on this little quilt !

Now I am working on a little wool crazy quilt pincushion for another swap that I am in. It feels good to be working in colours that I adore lol :) Hope to have this done within the next few days. I think for the other pincushion I will do a bit of embroidery.

Doll Quilt & Upcoming Swaps

I have the doll quilt top all together and I am so happy to almost be to the end of this project. It measures in at 16 1/2 inches by 15 1/2 inches. It has defiantly been a challenge ! However I did manage to incorporate everything that my swap partner asked for so I really hope that she is pleased with it.

This is my first time quilting by machine. I have to say that I really do not care for the feel that it gives to the doll quilt. It makes it feel stiff, I think that from now on I will be hand quilting my little quilts because I really like the drape that it gives these little quilts. I hope to have the quilting all done on it today so that I can work on the binding tonight at work.

Next on my list of things to do is an upcoming pincushion swap. I have 2 partner's for that one as we had an odd amount of people sign up. I also am hosting a Spring themed Mug Rug swap. I think I am going to do a bit of embroidery for that one, or maybe some applique. I am still playing around with idea's lol :)

Pink,Pink, and more Pink

Well I am making progress on the little pink and black doll quilt :) Even though pink is not my colour I think this little quilt is growing on me. The next row will be some sort of star block and I am really leaning to an applique boarder of some sort.

Needlebook Finish and Swap Received

My swap arrived from Raylene and oh my do I ever feel spoiled !!! She really hit the nail on the head with this little doll quilt, I just adore it !! The quilt is a combination of wool and cotton. And the little Bear Paw in the center is just flipping adorable !

I finished off the needlebook. Even though it's not made in colours that I normally like I have to say I really love how this came out.

I just love the little buttons that I found at my local quilt store. I think they really help to tie all the colours together.

Now that this is all finished I will put it away in a safe spot until it is time to mail it out :) Next on the list of projects is another doll quilt. For the month of February I was paired with Angela and she has chosen the colours black and pink and she would also like hearts and stars included in her doll quilt. This should be quite a challenge as I have no earthly idea how I am going to incorporate everything into such a small size lol ! Should keep me busy for a bit though :)

A finish and new start :)

I finally have a finish !! The little doll quilt that I have been working on the better part of the month is all finished :) I have really enjoyed the journey of making this wee little quilt ! It is 100% hand stitched and quilted. This was my very first time using cotton batting and I must say that I am now a convert. The drape on this little quilt is just amazing and it was so wonderful to hand quilt with the cotton batting.

I used a Kansas Troubles fabric for the border and backing on this little quilt. I had only bought a 1/2 yard of it so I am about out of it. I need to buzz by the quilt store on Friday when I get paid as I just love this fabric and I want a couple of yards of it. My luck though they will be out lol !! It's been a bit since I bought this fabric so I am really crossing my fingers that they have more of it left.

I tried to get a picture of the hand quilting as I am pretty proud of it. My stitches were getting straighter with every little block that I quilted. Still not perfect but I am super happy with it :)

Now I am moving on to the needlebook, I started the embroidery on the little owl for the front cover. I also picked up some buttons that I will see if I can incorporate into the needlebook as they go so well with the fabrics. Of course I forgot to snap a picture but I'll get one over the next couple of days .

Needle Book

Today I treated myself to a new rotary cutter and mat. I am super excited as I have been wanting these for quite a while ! I also picked up the fabric and threads for the needle book.

Not the best picture but I will be doing this as a little embroidery for the front of the needle book. Hope it comes out as cute as I see it in my head lol !!

Busy, Busy !!

I am still plugging along on Brave Hearts, I just love how the flag turned out !!I hope to get the house and some more words finished off by the middle of this upcoming week :)

I acquired a new to me sewing machine a few days ago. To test it out I made this little 9 inch block out of some plain white fabric and a recycled man's shirt. I may end up making a few more blocks and turning it into a twin sized quilt for my youngest son.
I have quite a few upcoming exchanges. First I have a cupcake themed exchange on the Needle Felting Exchange group on Facebook. I have that exchange all finished and ready to mail out as soon as partners are assigned. I also have a needlebook and a pincushion exchange approaching on the Quilt Cave group on Facebook. Looks like I am going to be busy, busy over the next week or so :)

Swap received and hand quilting

I just received the most adorable little needle felted polar bear from my swap partner for the Dec '16 swap. The theme was black/white and she could not of made me any happier !! I love bears and this one is sooo perfect !!

I am making some nice progress on hand quilting my little quilt for the doll quilt swap ! Only 4 more blocks to be quilted and then I can get onto getting the binding put on :)

Quilt Top Finish & Bunnies

I finally got my little quilt top all finished !!!! I just love how it turned out, the wool pennies add so much to it :) Now on to the hand quilting. I am not the best hand quilter but I find the process so relaxing and hopefully I will get better with time. It has been raining like crazy here so these pictures are not the best, when the rain lets up I will snap some pictures in better light.

I got two of my new Harlequin rabbits a few days ago. The top photo is of Oreo my Black Magpie Buck. He is soooo sweet, an in your pocket kind of rabbit. The kids just love him and he puts up with all of their attention with such good grace :)

And this is Cocoa my Chocolate Magpie doe. She is not quite as sweet as Oreo but she will get there :) I bred her to Oreo this morning so we should be having babies in a month's time. I am super excited. It feels like it has been forever since I have had kits in the nestbox !! Oreo had 3 good fall off's this morning so I really hope that she took. Her past owner said it had been a good while since her last litter. I am crossing my finger's for some show quality kits

Brave Hearts and Quilt Update

Well I am making a bit of progress on the little four patch, today I will spend the day cutting out the pennies for it and stitching on the borders. I have the prettiest Kansas Trouble fabric that I will be using for the borders.

I have also made a wee bit of progress on Brave Hearts by Little House Needleworks. The Cresent Colours thread is a joy to stitch with and the colours are pooling wonderfully ! After I get the doll quilt stitched up I will have much more time to stitch on this. I am really looking forward to seeing more of this design appear :)

A Bunny Post :)

This is Titan, Baby Red's new meat buck. Yesterday we drove about an hour away to pick up a cage for our Harlequin's that are coming on Tuesday. I did not go down with the intention of buying a rabbit but Baby Red has other idea's when she saw this little guy. He is 1/2 New Zealand broken blue and 1/2 American Blue. He will be the herd sire to our meat mutt line and Baby Red's personal pet.

I was in a needle felting swap over on the facebook group Needle Felting Exchange, my partner received her swap yesterday so I can show what I made. I had a blast felting up this little penguin, he was so much fun to make !!

This is one of the does that I am getting for my Harlequin project, she is a brown Magpie . Baby Red is already calling her Cider. I will be breeding her to the black Magpie buck pictured below. Next weekend I am picking up 2 more does. One is a blue Magpie and also her mother who is a black Magpie.
